Pick n Pay has an exciting opportunity for Graduate Trainee Buyers with strong academic profiles and matric mathematics, also at a higher level; the position will be based Pick n Pay Corporate offices in Kenilworth – Cape Town / Kensington – Johannesburg.
We are looking for graduates whom are recently qualified, passionate about retail, have a natural flair for numbers coupled with excellent communication skills (verbal and written), high in energy and drive and enjoys engaging with people.
Minimum RequirementsBCom Degree – (i.e in Marketing, Finance, Management, Maths, Stats, Economics etc from a Mainstream University)
Honours Degree advantageous
Recent Graduate (no work experience required)
Computer literate (Excel Po.werpoint & Word)
Intermediate Ms Excel knowledge (Advantageous)
Duties & ResponsibilitiesWork closely with all buying support teams and participating in on-the-job training.
Participating in meetings, workshops, and team-building events.
Compile reports and present to other staff members.
Analyze existing systems and present new ideas for improvement.
Conduct research and assist the Manager or Supervisor wherever possible.
Complete fieldwork and visit different work sites when required.
Administratively supporting all aspects of the buying process.
Compiling, balancing, and updating of spread sheets and reports.
Building constructive and mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers.
Research new suppliers and recommendations to the buyer.
General office administration and ad hoc duties as required by the department.
Understand the space planning fundamentals of the relevant categories
Work closely with vendors and keep track of market trends.
Prepare competitive retail and pricing strategies.
Plan, monitor and maintain suitable inventory levels.
Prepare budgets and forecast purchasing trends.
Compile reports on product performance and statistics.
