About the merseta learnership programme 2022/2023
Merseta invites young unemployed individuals to apply for the learnership programme. Merseta is only one of the known 21 sectors, of training and education departments, which was established to develop, and promote talented candidate in skills training for scarce skills through Merseta Learnerships
Interested candidates are highly advised to register with the Department of Labour as an unemployed individual who is looking for a learnership program. Candidates can register through the link provided under the Application process. Interested applicants must ensure that their details are up to date. Candidates who have registered themselves with department of labour may be contacted when an appropriate learnership becomes available, only if they meet all the necessary requirements.
Merseta learnership program usually takes a period of twelve to twenty four months. Successful candidates will receive a monthly stipend however these do not include transport, meal and accommodation costs. Candidates will be responsible for their own meal, transport and accommodation costs.
Completing this learnership program does not guarantee an individual a permanent contract of employment however individuals will gain valuable skills and knowledge that may be helpful in their future work environment.

Basic Requirements
Interested candidates must include a detailed curriculum vitae and any other additional information they may feel is important to their applications. Different qualifications may be applicable, in accordance with the career path chosen. Also include copies of all relevant documents which are certified and no older than three months.
Candidates will also be required to have the following:
- Applicants must be a permanent South African citizen.
- All interested candidates must be in possession of a Matric Certificate
- Candidates must be fluent in English(read, write and speak)
- You must be proficient in one other national language
- Candidates who are Computer literate?will be advantage
- All candidates must be self-motivated and a team player
- Flexibility with a commitment to learn, but moreover willingness to work

Online Application for the merseta learnership programme are made available once they open. All interested candidates can download the learnership agreement form through merseta webpage.
Learnerships may be for a duration of 12 to 24 months. Candidates must register with ESSA via this link.
Candidates wanting to apply can also find out from their University Career center if there are any open learnerships. Advertisements will also be placed in newspapers, and/or on the radio once these become available
