About the letsema learnership programme 2022/2023
Are you interested to start a career within the banking sector? then this learnership could be suitable for you. Letsema learnership opportunity usually takes a period of 12 months. The letsema learnership opportunity is proudly funded by BANKSETA. This learnership opportunity is for learners who have completed their matric. BANKSETA pays a monthly stipend to learners who are taking part in the learnership program and people who are training these learners.
The registered employer hosts the learners and provides on-the-job workplace training for them. Theoretical training is also given, in a classroom setting by a registered, accredited training provider, and at a venue organized by the employer.
Letsema learnership programs are part of the National Skills Development Strategy and the aim of the NSDS is reduce poverty and unemployment rate within all South African communities.
Letsema learnership programs are available to all candidates who have the necessary qualifications. They consist of both theoretical and practical training in the key role the banking sector plays in forming the economic, social and political landscape in South Africa.
After completing this learnership opportunity individuals will have necessary knowledge and skills that may assist them in their future workplace.
Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend.
Basic Requirements
There are certain requirements for being accepted into this learnership:
Minimum Requirements
- Candidates must be a South African citizen in possession of a valid SA ID document
- All interested candidates must be in possession of a Standard 10/Grade 12 Certificate with a minimum pass of a C-Symbol on Standard Grade in English and a pass in Maths literacy / Mathematics or Accounting with a minimum C-symbol on Standard Grade
- Applicants must have a clear credit record (ITC)
- Applicants may not have a criminal record
- Candidates must be available to start the Learnership on 1st February 2014
- The following documents must be attached to your application or it will be disqualified:
- CERTIFIED COPY of your Identity Document ( Certification of documents can be done by a Commissioner of oaths at a police station or bank)
- A CERTIFIED COPY of your Testimonial
- CERTIFIED COPY of your Senior Certificate/Equivalent Certificates in the case of learners with disabilities
- DISABLED LEARNERS: Attach a medical certificate as proof of the nature of your disability. Do not send original documents, attach certified copies.
Additional Requirements
- Candidates must be unemployed
- Candidates must be fluent in English and be able to communicate easily with people
- Applicants must present a professional image
- All Applicants may not have any pending employment offers
- Interested candidates must be under the age of 30 years
- Applicants will need to provide a positive recommendation or an official testimonial from a previous learning institution, school or church
- Candidates must not have participated in any other learnerships
- All candidates will be placed as near as possible to the address provided on your application form. You will not be able to transfer during the learnership
After completing this learnership opportunity is not guaranteed that individuals will receive a permanent contract of employment. However individuals will be well-equipped and ready to work within the banking sector.

- When applying for the learnership, make sure that you specify the learnership post that you are applying for (e.g. Letsema Learnership: Gauteng Region.)
- Make sure that you sign the application form yourself
Please take into account that:
- Application forms that are late, incomplete or unsigned will not be considered
- Incorrect or invalid details on your application will immediately disqualify you
- Photocopied forms will not be accepted
- Applicants with a qualification higher than a 1-year post-matric certificate will not be considered
