NSFAS BURSARY
The NSFAS bursary is open to all South African citizens and permanent residents with a combined household income of not more than R350 000 per annum.
Who can not apply?
1.Students who have received 100% study funding from non-NSFAS sources.
2.A student who already has obtained an undergraduate qualification and wants to study for a second undergraduate qualification.
3.A student who has achieved a certificate qualification and wants to study for a second certificate qualification.
4.Students studying at a private institution.
5.Students enrolled for qualifications that are not approved by DHET and/or SAQA accredited.
What does the funding covers ?
The Bursary
The funding covers the cost of the following:
- Registration
- Tuition Fees and learning materials
- Living allowance
- Personal care allowance
- Transport or Accommodation
Living/Personal and Transport allowances are not part of the loan scheme funding.

Required Supporting documents during the application process
If you have applied for #NSFAS2025 funding and received a request to submit supporting documents, log into your myNSFAS account to upload the required documents:
- Students with disabilities must provide: A completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form
- Students must download the NSFAS 2024 Consent form
- Students must download the NSFAS Declaration form
This form is only for applicants who are 34 years old or younger and whose parent-child relationship with the provided parents/guardian cannot be verified by NSFAS:

- Retrenchment letter
- Death certificate/s
- Divorce Decree
- Proof of legal guardianship
- Marriage certificate

Appeals
Rejected applicants who are eligible to appeal may appeal their application outcome within 30 days of receiving their application results.
